Thus far, we have made some significant progress using the SeaFET logger to record pH here in McMurdo Sound. We have two benthic and coastal deployment sites where the SeaFET was placed near the bottom where the adult urchins are found: Cinder Cones (FH12 on the sea ice map below), and a location at Cape Evans where we have collected our adult urchins. The SeaFET at each of the coastal sites was located at about 40-45m depth, and we have successfully recorded continuous pH data for three weeks at both the Cinder Cones and Cape Evans sites.

Today, Paul and I deployed the SeaFET at a location in McMurdo Sound, in the Erebus Basin area, a location on the sea ice that is over deeper water (~400-500m). We shall see what we learn! Paul and the SeaFET are shown below.
